Who publishes it

Hire Caregiver STL is published by OwnersFirm, a St. Louis company that builds reference desks for families in this metro. The desk has no clinician on staff and no named author. Every sheet carries a desk byline on purpose, so that nobody mistakes a sheet for the opinion of a nurse, an accountant or a lawyer.

The method, sheet by sheet

One question per sheet. Each sheet starts from a question a family actually types, such as whether hiring someone yourself means paying taxes, and answers that question before anything else.
Public pages only. Facts come from federal and Missouri government pages and from major nonprofits such as Family Caregiver Alliance and the National Institute on Aging. Company blogs and forum posts are not sources here.
Opened, read and dated. Someone opens each page, confirms the sentence is really on it, and records the date. The sources page is that inventory. The comparison table on the home page and the local help page were checked against their official pages on September 12, 2026.
Numbers quoted, never rounded. When the IRS prints $3,000 for 2026, the sheet says $3,000 for 2026. When a page prints no number, the sheet prints none.
The link sits on the fact. You should be able to click the sentence that surprised you and land on the page that says it.
Clinical questions leave the page. Any sheet that touches health has a block that sends the question to the care team or the doctor.

The paid placement

One company pays to appear on this site: New Plan Care Solutions, a locally owned non-medical in-home care company serving St. Louis and St. Charles counties. It is a client of OwnersFirm. The two companies are not commonly owned.

Its placement is labelled every time it appears: a featured section with a note form on the home page, and a short box marked as paid at the end of each sheet. The note form sends what you type to New Plan Care Solutions and nowhere else. Phone number is optional, and the company contacts you only in the way you ask. The sheets themselves were not bought, New Plan Care Solutions does not review them before they are published, and the placement is never a rank, a score or a recommendation drawn from the table.

What this desk will not do

Score, rate or rank any company, including the one that pays for placement.
Print an hourly rate or a price range for care. No public page this desk can cite holds one for this metro, and it will not invent one. The only dollar figures on the site are government thresholds and fees, quoted from the page that sets them.
Give tax, legal or medical advice. The tax sheet is a map of the IRS and Missouri pages; your own filing is a question for a tax professional. Contracts and disputes go to a lawyer. Health goes to the doctor.
Diagnose, suggest a medicine, or tell you how many hours of care a condition requires.
Publish reviews, testimonials, composite families with made-up names, or negative claims about any agency, hospital or facility.
Describe New Plan Care Solutions as licensed, accredited, certified, clinical or medical.
Run analytics tags, pixels or call-tracking numbers.

Corrections

Public pages change: a phone line moves, a threshold updates in January, a program gets a new form. When a sheet no longer matches the page it links to, the public page wins. The sentence gets corrected and the date on the sources page gets updated to the day it was checked again. If you spot one, call or text the number at the top of the site and say it is a correction for Hire Caregiver STL, or simply trust the linked source over our sentence until it is fixed.

Why a field guide

The public pages that answer hiring questions exist, but they are written for nobody in particular and they arrive in no useful order. The IRS does not know you have a shift to fill on Tuesday. The registry does not know you are choosing between an agency and a neighbor's recommendation. This desk puts those pages in the order the week happens, which is what the start here path is for.
